Winter 2024 Update

Lights, Camera, Cinematheque!
The Cinematheque screenings, directed by our Grade 8 and Grade 10 students, were a big hit this year. From heartfelt documentaries to captivating films, each screening offered a unique perspective shaped by our students’ creativity. Special thanks to Ms. Duy for guiding the 8s in their selections and Mr. Lee for assisting the 10s in their creative documentary. We’re excited to share highlights of the most memorable films and documentaries. Stay tuned for insights into the films that truly stood out!

Winter Supper Potluck
Our Winter Supper was an evening full of warmth and community spirit! Huge thanks to Caroline, Anne, and the performers for making the event unforgettable, and to the families whose support brought it all together. The night was filled with delicious food, beautiful performances, and heartfelt connections – a perfect way to celebrate the season within our Mini community.

Winter Formal
The Winter Formal was a magical night, thanks to the hard work of Margot, Rebecca, Connor, Euan, and the rest of the team. Their incredible attention to detail made the event unforgettable, with elegant decorations and music setting the perfect atmosphere. The Grade 12s (per Mini tradition) had to ask out our new Grade 8s to the dance! It was a night full of fun, laughter, and dancing that we’ll remember for years to come!

Winter Week Activities
Winter Week brought us together for fun activities and friendly competition, including the exciting Mini Olympics. The energy was high, and we kept track of the tallies to see which grade would take the lead! The week was about celebrating winter in all its glory where the Minis decorated doors for their wonderful teachers, had a gingerbread house building competition, guess the Christmas song, speed wrapping competition, and a hot chocolate chugging relay.

Welcome to Our New Mini 8 Student
We’re thrilled to welcome a new Mini 8 student, Lena, who started with us on January 29, 2025! We’re excited for her to join our school community and hope she’ll find their place quickly. Let’s make sure she feels at home and supported as they begin this new chapter with us here at Prince of Wales Mini.

Mini Science Fair 2025
The Science Fair just wrapped up during the week of January 20-24, 2025, and our new Grade 8 and old Grade 9 (well… they are not that old yet) students have been busy preparing exciting projects! From innovative technologies to creative solutions, this is a showcase of curiosity and talent. The incredible work displayed through their projects was evident, with colourful and artistic posters alongside exciting experiments. We had a chance to celebrate the scientific achievements of our students. Special thanks to Ms. I, Ms. Lau, Ms. Power, and the Grade 12s for judging the science fairs.

Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, roll on Mini!
