Program

Based on a cohort model.

Our school program is based on the cohort model, in which 28 students in each grade pursue many of their courses as a group.

This model allows our teachers to prepare an effective program that matches the needs of students and provides support for students as they work collaboratively with their peers.

  • Students in Grades 8, 9, and 10 take four (4) enriched Mini School courses with their cohort group (English, Social Studies, Math, and Science). Four (4) elective courses are taken with students in the Main School.

  • Students in Grade 11 take three (3) enriched Mini School courses with their cohort group (English, Social Justice, and Math). Five (5) other courses are taken with students in the Main School.

  • Students in Grade 12 take two (2) enriched Mini School courses with their cohort group (English and Leadership). Five (5) other courses are taken with students in the Main School.

Students in the Mini follow an accelerated Math track...

Specifically, Math 8-10 is completed in grades 8-9, Pre-Calculus 11 is completed in grade 10, and Pre-Calculus 12 is completed in grade 11. This allows students to take Calculus or AP Calculus in their grade 12 year.

... and engage in multiple leadership opportunities.

Leadership opportunities are presented throughout the 5 year program (e.g., fundraising, mentorship, event planning, Student Council), culminating in a final Leadership class that Mini students take together in their grade 12 year.
